The summer race season is in full swing, and Attack Racing athletes have been showing up strong across the province and beyond. From muddy mountain bike courses to (sometimes) sunny road races, our riders continue to grow, learn, and perform, all backed by an incredible community of teammates, coaches, and families.

MTB O-Cup #2 – Hardwood Hills

We kicked off this phase of the season with MTB O-Cup #2 at Hardwood Hills, where the weather played a big role all weekend. Heavy rains after the Friday XCC event meant we had to cancel our pre-rides for Saturday, but most of our athletes were already familiar with the course, which, while physically demanding, wasn’t overly technical.

XCC racing on Saturday brought all the excitement we expect from short-track. Nine Attack Racing athletes lined up, and we came away with two podium finishes: Vienna took 1st and Tomas 3rd, with Isaac finishing just off the podium in 4th, notably racing up in a combined U11/U13 field against kids up to three years older. Most of our riders landed top-10 finishes, demonstrating the team’s depth and consistency.

Sunday’s XCO racing saw 11 Attack riders on course. The cold and damp weather may have made for less-than-ideal spectating, but it created fast, tacky racing conditions. Again, the team delivered: five podium finishes, including the top step for both Vienna and Tomas. With many other top-10 performances, every rider gave their best and showed what hard work and great preparation can do.

Grand Prix Charlevoix

After Hardwood, we turned our attention to one of the most demanding events of the year: the GP Charlevoix Stage Race in Quebec. This renowned stage race consisted of a flat and fast Time Trial, an epic Hill Climb with gradients over 20% and an elongated U17 Road Race of 83km with 1,200m of climbing. Cold temperatures and consistent rain over the entire weekend added another layer of challenge to an already hilly and technical stage race. Still, our team, including Izzy, Ben, Harry and Ethan, showed real strength, earning solid results in each stage and narrowly missing the top 10 in each general classification. Just as importantly, the team gained valuable experience in stage racing, weather management, and high-pressure competition that will pay dividends as the season progresses.

Road O-Cup #2 – Moonstone

Pre-race instructions w/ the U17 boys.

Back in Ontario, the sun finally broke through at Road O-Cup #2 at Moonstone, and our athletes were more than ready to race in the heat. Tomas, Santiago, Izzy, and Maelle all notched personal bests on the punchy course. Ben and Harry are continuing to refine their strategies for elevation-heavy courses, and despite suffering a mechanical at a critical moment, Ethan showed resilience by hanging on for a finish just minutes off the lead group but still collecting OCup points.

MTB O-Cup #3 – Boler Mountain

It was special to see MTB O-Cup racing return to our hometown at Boler Mountain, and the entire Attack Racing community stepped up to make it unforgettable. Huge thanks to Steve Leonard at Boler for making it all possible, and hats off to the many parents and coaches who volunteered their time, including a special shoutout to Dave Ellyatt for running a well-oiled machine all weekend.

In Saturday’s XCC event, we had 15 racers on course, earning five podium finishes. Notably, Isaac grabbed 2nd place in the combined U11/U13 category, and Freya came close behind in 4th. The racing was tight, fast, and exciting from start to finish.

Sunday’s XCO course demanded everything from the riders: tight singletrack, big climbs, and technical flow, but our homefield advantage paid off. 18 Attack riders raced, including Caleb, Harry, Clare, and Ben, who all took on their first-ever MTB O-Cup races. Congrats to them for stepping up to the start line!

Six podiums capped the day, with Tomas taking the double victory in both XCC and XCO. Vienna, West (upgrade coming soon!), and Isaac also secured wins in their categories. Many more top 10 performances rounded out an incredible weekend on home turf.

What’s Next

In between these major events, our athletes have been staying sharp and connected to the local scene through LCW’s Tuesday and Thursday Night Road races and Boler’s Thursday Night MTB series. These weekly races offer great opportunities to test skills, train under pressure, and build camaraderie in a fun, community-focused environment.

Up next, we’re focused on major summer milestones as school lets out for the year:

  • Road Nationals (June 27-30)
  • MTB O-Cup #4 (June 29-30)
  • Coupe de l’Avenir (Quebec) (July 2-6)
  • Kingston Stage Race (July 4-6)
  • Quebec/Canada Cup – Saint Felicien (July 5-6)

With every race, our athletes are getting stronger, more confident, and more connected to each other, to their goals, and to the cycling community.

Thanks to all the athletes, parents, volunteers, and supporters who make this possible. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished—and we’re just getting started.
