Attack Racing’s outdoor season officially kicked off in May with back-to-back weekends of racing on the Ontario Cup circuit. With one road and one mountain bike Ontario Cup in the rearview mirror, the team is continuing its build towards national and provincial championships later this year.

Road OCup #1 – Henderson Classic Road Race

A sunny but cool morning greeted the squad at the Henderson Memorial Park, just outside of Bradford, Ontario. Harry, Santi, Ben and Tomas lined up for the Men’s C race, in their first test of the season. The group stayed together over the 70km race, save for a pair of riders who took off on the fourth lap. Unfortunately, there was not enough impetus in the peloton to chase, and the race ended in a field sprint. Tomas secured 4th overall, the first U15 to cross the line, while teammates Harry and Ben also ended up in the Top 10.

Lots of learning in this first OCup as a team, and the squad is already looking forward to the next OCup they have together in Moonstone, but first, there’s GP Charlevoix!

The story in the Women’s B race was slightly different. Lap after lap of the 70km race saw riders falling off the pace. With about 20km to go, the decisive move was made, and Izzy was sure to be in it. The group of three motored to the finish line with a gap of nearly three minutes to the next group on the road.

In the finish, Izzy opted for the long-range attack and nearly pulled it off, being caught near the finish line and having to settle for third. Overall, a great result in her second-ever road race.

Up next is the U17 stage race at GP Charlevoix

Mountain Bike OCup #1 – Woodnewton

Saturday – XCC (Short Track):

The weekend kicked off with a strong showing in the short track races!

In Wave 1, Kinsley and Vienna dominated their field, finishing 1st and 2nd, a full lap ahead of the rest of their category. Breeze powered into the top 5, while both Isaac and Tomas took 2nd in their respective categories with blazing lap times, easily on par with the category above.

Santiago, Carson, and Paul brought consistency and determination — and turned into the ultimate hype crew for teammates Craig and Ethan, offering energy and encouragement all morning. That cheer power paid off — Ethan finished 4th, passing a rival just before the final corner with a one-second lead!

West, our lone rider in the last wave, got the full force of team support as he faced off against a stacked U19 field with grit and determination.

Sunday – XCO (Cross Country):

Dry trails and punchy climbs made for an exciting course, and nearly the full Attack Racing roster showed up ready to roll.

Wave 1 featured Kellen, Kinsley, Vienna, Henry, and Isaac. Not only did Isaac crush his race, but he even tacked on an extra lap — just for fun (or training, depending on who you ask!). We claimed three podium finishes in Wave 1!

In Wave 2, Maelle and Breeze powered through three strong laps in the U15 girls category. In the U15 boys, Tomas took the top step of the podium, with Carson, Santiago, and Paul close behind, showing depth and strength in the team.

West was in the U19 Sport Men category, landing the top step and continuing his strong weekend.

In Wave 4, Izzy and Ethan took on U17 Expert. Ethan’s 1:22 time earned him a spot in the top 10, while Izzy, battling illness, made the smart call to prioritize health and save her strength and lungs for the next race.

An amazing weekend filled with grit, team spirit, and sunshine! Attack Racing continues to grow stronger, together.
